i'm getting so so addicted to this comic now Dx things are moving along nicely~
i know it's selfish but i do wish you updated on weekends too *laugh* it's srsly after a long days work it cheers me up to see an update every weekday!
it's really interesting to see a boy in love! (and so cute ;w;) you never really see it in comics! it's really only ever female perspective! in the comic i am doing right now i have been trying to do a man in love, it's been difficult- this is a good study for me =) thank you! sorry to bsbble;
hate to be That Guy but there's a typo in the first paragraph: "commericals" should be "commercials." i'm sure the editors at First Second are awesome and they'd catch it before the print version, but i had to point it out just in case. 'cause i know what it's like to get typos in your finished book. ;)
Malcolm, heh heh, well, you could pretend Andy's Simon and Yumi's Nancy. ;)
Ian, thank you guys for having me! I had such a great time at SCAD. You guys were all so awesome there. And it was exciting to see the future!
Sarah, I wish! Believe me, if I could produce fast enough I would totally update on the weekends too. As for boys falling in love; yeah, I guess it's not too common. At least in this detail. Don't know why that is since I know guys in love all the time. By the way, I really dig your artwork! Love the use of those washes and muted colors.
Ross, thanks! (Hey, is this you, Campbell?) I'm really glad to hear you like Yumi. I don't know if this story would work if she wasn't likable. And THANK YOU for being That Guy! Any spelling errors you see, please point them out, people!
My thanks to everyone else for the encouraging words! Any feedback is appreciated(even the negative). Thanks!
The story started off slow but now I can't wait for the day's new strip! Will have to swing by if your ever in the Bay Area again to have my copy of Same Difference signed!
it seems to me that if yumi was actually in love with andy, and given her straight forward personality, she would've already told him. but anyway, nice way to keep us in suspense!
ps. just thinking people are saying yumi seems straight up so she would tell andy already, but idk, she seems like the kind of person who is generally upbeat and honest but when it comes to things like love she may well be pretty shy and awkward about it! if it is the case i wonder how long she has liked him for? // lol srlsy just assuming here.
Me too. I guess it's probably not so easy to draw a picture of somebody drawing something you drew. Without just repeating how you normally draw. Meta-drawing one could call it =)
Is that the monkey king from american born chinese on his t-shirt? I finished that book yesterday :). Love the comic so far. It was a little hard to get used to the panel updates, especially with the first chapter, but it does add to the suspense. d
You're welcome! :D And you say that but you're one of my favorite comic writers! o,o (Which is why I jumped at the opportunity to attend your SCAD workshop. :D)
I am from France and have been following you since your early on-line work, before Same Difference, when you drew angry-anti-cupido-do-it-yourself-people.
Man, you are good and --even more important-- your level hasn't drop an inch, you appear to enjoy it all the same over the years.
Thanks a lot, looking forward to reading your strips every morning (and buying your books when they come out :))
agustin, I'm glad you brought up that point. For me personally, I find it really hard to predict people's behavior when it comes to crushes or love, kind of like what sarah and LEADi were alluding to. I know I've noticed friends in real life who act completely contrary to their everyday selves when it comes to romance. Who knows, maybe Yumi's everyday behavior is a front to deal with her insecurities... You do bring up a great point though, and it's something on which I'm hoping my writing will hold up as you find out more about Yumi. Thanks, agustin!
ScooterX, Madler, thanks! Yeah, it was actually quite tricky. I didn't really know how to approach it at first. I was wondering if I should draw her drawings in a completely different style. But then I thought if she was as representational an artist as I was writing her to be then she would be drawing fairly realistically. So then I thought I'd have her drawings be really realistic, and not in the style in which I'm drawing this comic. But then I thought in this "reality", in the reality of this comic, the way I'm drawing IS reality! So ultimately, i decided to have her drawings be close to how I was drawing the comic. Am I going crazy and overthinking this? haha...
Dorka - yup, that is indeed the Monkey King from Gene Yang's American Born Chinese! Gold Star for you! I have a shirt just like it.
Oxacdc - thanks, I really appreciate it! Good to hear someone from France too. I've been there twice, and I absolutely love it there. It's so nice to go to a country where comics are actually appreciate as a real artform! I can't wait to get Tune translated to French when it goes to print!

Sorry for the lack of updates the last few days, everyone. Just had some personal stuff come up. I'm back on track now though! Enjoy!
Have a Same Difference crossover and all will be forgiven.
Kidding, but still following.
Long-time reader, rare commenter. I'm liking the story!

Loving your storytelling techniques. I'm learning alot.

The inking and designs and postures in these panels..! I'm in awe! Many thanks for sharing!
Don't open it, Andy!
(But I'm still curious what's inside her diary.)
What do you guys think? Should Andy open it or not? >:)
Sure thing, Mike! I'm sure I'll be up there for an A.P.E. in the near future.
Jan - Thanks so much! I just checked your blog and dang, you are an awesome artist! High praise coming from someone with so much skill.
If he opens it, she'll know it!
That might ruin his chances with her (even though I'm sure that the diary is filled with "I love Andy" doodles)!
:)

Love how you kept the suspense going with the multiple frames of his face. Ha, I wonder what we'll see? Or will she pop up all of a sudden? :-p
Is it Mike Meyers or Mike Myers?
Thanks for the correction, Eddy! Thank god for imdb...
if yumi is as serious an art kid as it's written up to be -- how come her sketchbook has stuff from a couple of years ago?!!?
anyway - super cute stuff, so far ^^
Simple! She switches between sketchbooks. I know I've got at least 3 or 4 going at once right now personally.
Two corrections:
"I flipped passed" should be "flipped past" and "pouring over" should be "poring over."
Loveyourcomics!! :D
D'oh! Thanks for the corrections, LEADi. Grammar is my Kryptonite...
oh my lord!! things are heating up =') could it be that she likes him could it be could it be? aargh..'till next update
i really like the detail- guess it's just not documented much (guys falling in love) it's fascinating and pretty endearing =')
wow you have seen my artwork and you dig it??? .......I'M SO FREAKING HONOURED RIGHT NOW!! sorry for freaking out
damn i feel happy~

'caught him picking his nose three times'-- cut the poor guy some slack, having charcoal-boogers for 3 hours is really uncomfortable! :-P

I agree with Sarah in disagreeing with Agustin. :D She may have that personality, but it's not always that simple.
AHH SHE'S TOTALLY INTO HIM!!!!! aaaiuuuurrrgh this is fantastic reading, eargerly waiting monday's update uuurgh ='I
